Shifting Pavers Rug
After the Christchurch earthquake in 2011 I documented parts of the city centre. Where there had once been an evenly paved surface there were now skewed pavers and entire sections replaced with asphalt. When the earth moved, the pavers moved and the gaps between become dynamic shapes. For the rug the gaps have been singled out as graphic figures on a new substrate. Shifting Pavers is a record of connection and discordance between surface and substrate.
